It may be close to the end of the year, but I have been thinking about all of my wonderful Culver Academies Summer Camp families I worked with this past summer. I hope many of them decide to return again for next year and we'll have another opportunity to explore the beautiful campus together while I capture these great kids in their element at summer camp for their "formal portraits". We had fun and it shows...even if they were secretly thinking "ugh...do we have to do pictures?" when I first started the session. In the end, there were smiles, laughs and a great connection. I know when they return next year, we'll have even more fun! Many of them are featured on the Culver Academies special section of Always Happy Life Photography

Now...don't you wish you could go too? I have to say, I wish my family had sent me as a child and I'm very grateful that my husband's family sent him so that I know all about the lifetime impact it leaves on young minds.
My goal with formal portrait was to ask each and every camper what they loved the most about being at camp and then capture that for them to remember forever. Each camper's adventure started with a golf cart ride to as many favorite places they had on the campus and also some of mine. I love seeing the world through children's eyes and hearing the stories they have to tell about what they love (so many things!) and hate (I believe the top answer was marching) about being at camp at Culver. To me, one of the coolest experiences of being part of camp at Culver is that the kids meet kids from all over the world...and I did too, along with many of their families! The campers I worked with this year were from many different states in the US, as well as, Mexico (largest country represented in total at camp), Honduras, Jordan, Germany, Peru and Guatemala. Once again, how cool is that? Another cool thing is many of them come with siblings, cousins and friends...and they leave with so many more friends and memories after the short six weeks of camp.
So, as the year comes to a close, I especially want to thank the Culver Academies for all of the amazing kids and families I have had a chance to work with in 2012! I am so grateful that you have touched my life and wish you all of the best in 2013. I am looking forward to seeing my returning campers and meeting more campers in the 2013 Summer. I can't wait to hear all of their stories and capture their love of camp with images that bring back fond memories for years and years to come!
