Always Happy Life Photography Future Barn Studio

It's hard to believe that this old barn is now the future studio of Always Happy Life Photography isn't it? It looked pretty tired when Ed bought our farm in 2007...but now the barn has had a bit of a facelift. It's looking pretty good now, don't you think?

Always Happy Life Photography Barn Studio Renovation

Special thanks to Ed's Dad, Bill Furry, for his vision to convert the old barn into something we would love instead of knocking it down a few years ago. What was an eye sore before, makes me smile now every time I see it. :) It's coming along beautifully and the outside looks great!

Always Happy Life Photography Studio Prior to Spray Foam

Late last Fall, we had Randy and his team from Eco-Comfort come back to spray foam the studio with Icyenene insulation. They did our foundation on our farm house built in 1873 and also our Sail22 Speed Barn earlier in the fall. Amazing stuff! We opted to go this route with the studio because even though old barn wood the outer walls were now covered in galvanized aluminum and new windows were installed, there were still many cracks and crevices. Every thing is sealed up nice and tight now in the future studio!

The plan for the inside is to preserve the character that we have an old barn underneath. What better way to do it, then to put up old barn wood walls from another barn that is falling down? Dana's Dad recommended a friend of the family's barn that had caved in on one side and we made a trip to ask permission to use the wood. I am so grateful to them for saying yes! Here is the barn that the inside walls will be made from:

Old Barn Repurposed for Studio Walls

Bill Becker and Dana's Dad (also Bill) went over to start pulling it off last week. I'm super grateful to both of them for their help on this project. It's going to be a lot of work, but so worth it! The plan is to power wash all of the wood and then everything will be painted white for the walls inside. The ceiling will be a metal ceiling as well, similar to the outside, but if we can find old barn metal to recycle, that's what we'll be using. We're all for repurposing...and it looks cool too!

I'm hoping that now that Spring has arrived and we can work on it more often that the Studio Grand Opening will be mid-summer! I'll post more details as we get farther along. :)
